Dying tragically in his early forties, this artist left behind a body of work that can only hint at his unfulfilled potential. By counterbalancing the depth and detail of his pieces with a "smudgy" painting style, Andrea Del Sarto worked within the boundaries of Rennaissance content while suggesting a new freedom in form and style.
