So spoke Maurice Denis at the age of twenty; not yet a contemporary
of Paul Gauguin; not yet a founding member of the Nabis art school;
not yet an early inspiration of the Abstractionist movement.
Born on the heels of the fading Impressionist era and dead at
the height of World War II, Denis influenced -- and was influenced
by -- several of the great movements of our time.
