With none other than Henri Matisse as a
mentor, Andre Derain became a master at painting emotion and
poetry onto canvas. Derain's works, whether landscapes, portraits
or still lifes, express a deep sense of peace with nature, while
departing from realism in favor of a more Expressionist style.
In "Pool of London," Derain even experimented with
Impressionism, revealing his taste for diversity in technique.
- Paintings Available by Andre Derain:
- The Pool of London, 1906.
