Henri Fantin-Latour was the finest still
life painter among the Impressionists. His works, notable for
their dark color contrasts, have been on display at the Art Institute
of Chicago, among other locations. Fantin-Latour's friendship
with Edouard Manet culminated in his portrait of the man, one
of the most renowned portrait pieces of the Impressionist era.
