An American expatriate, Lyonel Feininger
completed his finest works just prior to the rise of Nazism in
Germany. Feininger was heavily influenced by the Cubist painter
Robert Delaunay, whose technique
of "fracturing" colors created a sense of shifting
perspectives and movement across a canvas.
