It is difficult to classify Gino Severini
within one particular genre, as he flirted with both Cubism and
Futurism during his career. Analyzing Severini's various, diverse
works, it can be argued that he employed the techniques of Cubism
(fractured, fragmented shapes and shifting perspectives) to express
the socio-political postures of Futurism. Severini's work attacked
industrialism, modernity and techonology as opposed to the free-spirited
essence of man.
